I grew up and spent most of my life in East Los Angeles until I went to college. I graduated from UCI with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. When I was an undergraduate I wanted to become an ER doctor. But my junior year, I decided that it was not for me. I finished my degree and wanted to work while I figured out what I wanted to do with my life. Right after graduation I was lucky enough to get a job in the Undergraduate/Undeclared Advising Office. I loved it so much that I am still here! I soon realized that, when I wanted become an ER doctor, I was attracted to the ER environment. You never know what your day is going to bring. This is exactly what it is like in the U/U office—and I love it. No day is ever alike and I really enjoy working with our incoming freshmen. It is so wonderful to see them grow as the year goes by. Many students come into our program shy and unsure about what they want. But, when they leave our program, they are confident and assured that the area of study they will pursue is the best fit for them. To see that transformation is what keeps me here every year.
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children. When I can squeeze in some time, I enjoy reading, watching TV and baking.
I look forward to meeting and interacting with all of you this summer and the upcoming year! Welcome to our U/U Anteater Family.
