Summer Session at UCI

Students wishing to take more than 10 units per summer session at Undergraduate/Undeclared must have an overall Grade Point Average of 3.5. No exceptions are granted regardless of the reason. If you meet the GPA requirement and would like to take more than the 10 units per session, please come to the Undergraduate/Undeclared Advising Office.

If you are looking to be cleared from prerequisites for UCI Summer Session Course because you have taken the prerequisite course at UCI or its equivalent at a community college, please follow the links for the appropriate school:

Summer at Community College

Students wishing to take courses at a California community college must check Assist.Org to make sure courses transfer. Students must adhere to the following regulations per the UCI Catalogue:

  • 1 Semester Unit is equivalent to 1.5 Quarter Units
  • No grade is transferred to the UCI GPA
  • No repeats are allowed of courses you have already taken at UCI
  • No Lower Division Writing may be taken at the community college
  • Classes required for some majors must be taken at UCI
