Personal Biography

Hey, Anteaters! Congratulations on making it to UC Irvine and kickstarting your future. My name is Lauren Bermudez, and I’m an Academic Counselor at the Undergraduate/Undeclared Office. I was born and raised in Orange County, and graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 2014 with a major in English Literature and minor in Linguistics TESOL.

I am a proud UC Study Abroad returnee, having completed the Yonsei University International Summer School program in Seoul, South Korea in 2011. My study abroad experience in South Korea inspired me to found Seoul’d Out!! UCSB—the 2nd collegiate Korean pop (K-Pop) student organization in the United States. Getting involved as a student leader was one of the best experiences I could have ever asked for, and is something I would advocate to all U/U students! Campus life is so important, especially since these friendships you form are the ones that will last you a lifetime.

My time as a student at UCSB was incredibly rewarding, so I’m very excited to return to the UC System as a counselor at UCI. As one of the International Student Counselors, I will be working very closely with all of our international students in U/U. I strongly encourage students to establish a relationship with me or whoever their counselor is at U/U, and to take advantage of all the amazing opportunities UCI has to offer! UC students have so many great programs at their fingertips, so go out and explore the world! I promise you won’t regret it.

In my spare time, I like to write flash fiction, paint resin dolls, collect scale figures, and watch anime or Korean dramas.

I look forward to helping you succeed and move forward with your future at UCI and beyond. Welcome to UCI and the U/U family!
